Like each of you, we are all shocked and saddened by the natural disaster that has overcome Texas and parts of Louisiana. Hurricane Harvey wasn’t messing around, and countless Texans now find themselves under water and flooded out of their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Seeing the wall-to-wall coverage on TV and social media often leaves us feeling sad and hopeless, wondering what we can possibly to do to make a difference and “show up” for these people when physically showing up isn’t an option. We’ve compiled a short list of ways you can make an immediate impact and help those affected by Harvey and its aftermath. Whether you’re motivated to feed, clothe or shelter those affected…there’s a way for you to help.
Please consider giving if you haven’t already, and if you are able, please be generous! There are so many displaced families and animals who are depending on ALL OF US.

Donate New Underwear
People always donate used clothing, but never new underwear to go with it. Here’s how:
Here are three ways to give new (still in package) underwear. Please keep in mind that a variety of sizes are needed for men, women, boys, and girls, including XXL.
2. Collect new, packaged underwear and mail it to the address below. This is a really great neighborhood or school project. If you’re purchasing, we recommend Hanes or Fruit of the Loom. UFE doesn’t process or give out anything but underwear!

Help the Animals by Donating to one of These Organizations
The Humane Society of the United States Animal Rescue Team provides response to natural disasters. They have volunteers, equipment, and rescue vehicles currently working from Corpus Christi to Texas City to San Antonio.
The ASPCA is on the ground with search-and-rescue, sheltering and relocation teams in Houston and much of Harvey’s path. They are asking for monetary donations or membership within the organization to support ongoing rescue efforts.
The Louisiana SPCA is getting ready in case flooding in New Orleans should occur this week. The group has already transported dozens of animals living in Harvey’s path to Atlanta.
Operation BBQ Relief responds to natural disasters and other situations to help feed displaced residents and emergency personnel. The group started as a response to the Joplin tornado. In Joplin alone, they served over 120,000 meals over 13 days. Food was delivered to shelters, hospitals, senior living communities, and the Humane Society. Volunteers loaded food into vehicles and delivered directly to families in the impacted areas. The operation was made possible by all who contributed food and supplies and funding from across the country.
