After a successful internship program last year, Sassafras decided to up the ante and extend our winter internship opportunity to five Kansas City-area students this year. The goal was for each of our account teams to have at least one intern working with them over winter break. Today we’re excited for you to meet the interns and learn more about the program we’ve put into place!
Let’s Meet the Interns!

She has been very busy outside of the classroom taking on positions such as fashion editor for sarahscoop.com, social media manager at 23rd Street Brewery and runs her own fashion and lifestyle Instagram blog. Emma has also been a member of the marketing and advertising clubs.
“I was never sure about working in marketing and advertising. In college, the courses have never quite interested me. But since working with Sassafras and working hands-on with a bunch of important clients, I’ve found that I truly enjoy marketing and am considering perusing it after college!”
Adam is currently a senior at the University of Kansas and is on track to graduate in May. He is in the school of journalism studying strategic communications with a minor in business. Adam is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, where he held the positions of vice president and social chairman. He has been active on campus by taking part in the advertising and sport management clubs. Adam has also had past internship experience with Thruline Marketing.
“I have greatly enjoyed my time as an intern with Sassafras. Every day I have learned something new. I have really appreciated how much we have been appreciated when it comes to the creative processes behind the scenes.”
Taylor is currently a junior at the University of Arkansas. She is in the business school studying marketing with a minor in management. Taylor has been very active in her membership with Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She has held the positions of scholarship committee, homecoming committee, initiation committee, and RMH charity fundraising events. Taylor has previous intern experience at Home Credit US, Meers Advertising and Yoh Company.
“Since the first day, the program has been very hands-on and inclusive. We have been given free rein to be creative with projects and share our passions. I have loved getting to work with my account team and learning how the remote agency lifestyle varies from that of a corporate or in-house agency office. Throughout the internship, I have gotten to work on several brainstorms, a social media comparison project, and even some copywriting. This has been my busiest, yet most valuable, winter break to date.”
These five students have proven themselves both in and out of the classroom and have bright futures in the marketing and advertising fields. In addition to being assigned to one of our account teams, they are also working on an internal social media project that is due at the end of their time here. They are attending 5 local business field trips in Kansas City, and helping out with creative brainstorms. We are very excited to be working with these young professionals and cannot wait to see what is in store for them in the future!
