Catching up with Shannon Baldwin, senior art director

It’s time to catch up with Shannon Baldwin, Senior Art Director! Shannon brings a lot of sass to Sassafras and we loved hearing her answers to our questions.

What would you name the autobiography of your life?

Where's My Keys, I’m late for Yoga! A guide to being a centered creative

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I would love to learn to speak multiple languages fluently. This could also act as my superpower.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

Let’s pretend like COVID doesn’t exist because I would buy a couple ‘around the world’ plane tickets and see the world with my husband! I love traveling, immersing myself in different cultures and seeing new things!

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?

Go for a walk outside or listen to a podcast. Better yet, how about listening to a podcast while going for a walk outside–multitasking.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?

Wonder Woman. She’s strong, self-reliant, supports other women and believes in peacefulness. Plus she can fly and wears the absolute best accessories!

What is something you learned in the last week?

That strawberries aren’t berries, peanuts aren’t nuts and mushrooms are going to take over world, all according to my very interesting Publix cashier today….wow, who knew

What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?

Perhaps because I live in FL and consider mountains to be such a treat, a really good mountain hike is an absolute favorite activity of mine. There is just something so fulfilling about putting in the strenuous uphill work to get to the top and see the big view from above. It just feels so rewarding and gets me every time.

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

Folding the laundry after the wash. I am guilty of spending days living out of the clean basket.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

I mean I should probably say something like Oprah or Deepak, but I’m going to go with Andy Cohen for a night out in NYC. He’s funny, likes a good cocktail and could give me all the celebrity housewives gossip and low down. It would be fun, breezy and memorable for sure, what more could I ask for!

What three traits define you?

I phoned this one in to get POV’s from those close to me. Creative, loyal and adventurous

Ten years ago, who did you think you would be now?

WOW, ten years ago! I was in my 20’s, “figuring it all out” day-to-day. I had guardrails, goals and desires but I very much allowed experiences, opportunities and unforeseen yes’s guide me. Sometimes I missed the mark, sometimes I soared, but it’s so cool to look back and see my very own unique path perfectly played out for me. I love who I am now and can’t wait to see who I will be 10 years from now.  I never want to stop evolving and becoming a new layer of myself.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

Interior Design. It would still feed my creative side, plus I drool over a good renovation and restoration.

What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?

Do the crazy dance, ask the random questions and stand up for the underdog because really everyone is just trying to figure it out, fit in and only paying attention to themselves anyway.

What is your favorite thing about working at Sassafras?

The opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects at many different stages of the creative process. Being a small company allows me the chance to be involved in projects from the ground up at the hard-thinking brainstorming and concepting phase, through the exploration execution phase and into the tactical production stage. I love the chance to use my creative brain & skills in different ways, it keeps me evolving and growing.
