We know a good campaign when we see one, and we’ve been behind some pretty awesome ones ourselves! The 2016 Summer Olympics are knocking on our door and the emotional ads and athlete’s backstories are coming at us left and right. Nobody corners this market like P&G, with their nod to all mothers behind great athletes.
The following comes directly from P&G’s website:
“Our critically-acclaimed videos from previous Olympic Games campaigns—’Pick Them Back Up’, ‘Kids’ and ‘Best Job’—are among the most viewed Olympic Games videos of all time. ‘Strong’ builds on that tradition of storytelling, with a fresh new take on the pivotal role moms play in their kids’ lives.
‘Strong’ explores the simple human truth that the daily courage moms show echoes at critical times throughout their kids’ lives. The video follows the Olympic Games journeys of four moms and their kids, showing the moments, both large and small, when a mother’s strength makes all the difference, and builds to the moment each child summons their own courage on the world’s biggest stage—the Olympic Games.”
We love how P&G chose to focus on strong mothers as a backbone and driving force for successful Olympians! It demonstrates how strong moms are in every facet of their children's’ lives, and how their children draw on that strength as they grow. You can’t deny that the camera ALWAYS pans to the athlete’s mom in the crowd after she completes her event! With women being the company’s target demographic…this successful campaign makes all the sense in the world. And it makes us tear up! Well done, P&G. GO USA!!!
