Meet Michaela!

Michaela is fun and sassy–and fits right in here at Sassafras! She’s our resident positive thinker and is based in Kansas City. We’re excited to add her to our team as an account manager! Here’s a little bit more about Michaela:

What do you like most about working at Sassafras?

The people at Sassafras are so easy to mesh with. What I love most is that no idea goes unheard here. No commute earns a dangerously close second.

Your hometown postcard—what’s on it?

An illustrated map noting a few of my favorite Kansas City spots – Boulevard Brewing, Hattie’s Fine Coffee and Cooper’s Hawk.

Who is your hero and why?

My dad! He’s taught these things that truly stick:

  1. Work hard and good things will come to you

  2. How to change a flat tire – YES GIRL, you can change your own tires

  3. Respect your elders

What book are you reading right now?

Pisces – The art of living well and finding happiness according to your star sign. Gifted to me as a birthday present from my MIL. We started a book club and are all reading about our horoscopes.

Name an interesting thing about yourself that others might not know.

I’m basically a craft bartender and crazy music lover. Hostest with the mostest?

What is your favorite website or app?

Relax Melodies, a noise-making app that I use every night while I sleep. Totally beats Apple Music, Instagram and all the other apps I use each day.

Is there a particular project or work product you are most proud of?

Right now I’m loving the work we are doing for United Way of Wyandotte County. Anything that makes you feel like you are a part of a greater community impact is the kind of work I love to do.

Describe your ideal Saturday!

Picture this – perfect patio weather, our chiminea lit and our closest friends. Sign me up!

You’re leaving town for a very, very long time…where would you dine for your last meal and what would you eat?

We would start with dinner at Jax Fish House. I would likely have scallops, but if you knew me you’d know I could never plan a last meal on the spot like this. We’d end with a lux wine tasting at Cooper’s Hawk… maybe two if it’s my last!
