Welcome Group Account Director Jawan to the Sassafras Team

Sassafras hasn’t seen team growth like this since 2018–and man, are we excited! Jawan joined our team officially as of April 1, and we’re excited to finally be introducing him on the blog and to clients. Jawan will lead our account team as our Group Account Director, and we have to say, the team has gotten a little more fun since he joined! Learn a little more about him:

What do you like most about working at Sassafras?

The overall family atmosphere of the agency. Everyone enjoys working together to accomplish goals that help the agency grow.

Your hometown postcard—what’s on it?

Although I was born and currently live in Chicago, my hometown will always be Park Forest, IL. It’s located in the South Suburbs of Chicago and its motto is Live, Grow, Discover. Park Forest was founded in 1948 as the planned community for veterans returning from World War II. It was named America’s Most Livable Suburbs by Forbes Magazine in 2007. On the postcard, you’ll see a picture of beautiful trees and grass for miles and miles.

Who is your hero and why?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He’s a true American Icon that believed in equal rights and justice for everyone.

What book are you reading right now?

The Sixth Man. It’s the autobiography of NBA Basketball player Andre Iguodala.

Name an interesting thing about yourself that others might not know.

I’ve ridden motorcycles for nearly 15 years and own a beautiful 2003 Honda RVT1000.

What is your favorite web site or app?

Believe it or not, Amazon. I absolutely love searching and shopping for things. Their website and mobile app are so intuitive. The user experience improves every time I’m on it.

Is there a particular project or work product you are most proud of?

I’m very proud that I had the opportunity to work on both the 2016 Summer and 2018 Winter Olympics programs for Minute Maid which featured 5x Gold Medal-winning swimmer Missy Franklin and the Shibutani siblings, who were Bronze Medal-winning ice skaters.

Describe your ideal Saturday!

Waking up early in the morning about 7 a.m., enjoying a nice cup of coffee and then driving to the lakefront and riding my road bike to downtown Chicago and back (approximately 25 miles).

You’re leaving town for a very, very long time…where would you dine for your last meal and what would you eat?

A Kansas City cut steak with garlic mashed potatoes and wine at Ruth Chris.
