Welcome, Madi, (back) to Sassafras!

In case the title of the blog didn’t immediately give it away, we recently welcomed Madi Twombly back to Sassafras! Madi had previously been with Sassafras for 4 years and recently rejoined our team as an Art Director. We are all thrilled to have her back and truly missed her while she was gone. We recently got to catch up with her in person at our team meeting and today we’re sharing a little bit more about her with all of you!

What do you like most about working at Sassafras?

I love the flexibility of working from home. There’s no better way to kickstart my creativity like taking a nice walk around the neighborhood or popping out on to a nature trail every now and then.

Your hometown postcard—what’s on it?

A gigantic Hereford Bull overlooking the city. It’s a Kansas City icon and always makes me think of home.

Who is your hero and why?

I have always admired David Attenborough. His beautiful documentaries have inspired me since I was a child and his passion for saving the planet is unrivaled.

What book are you reading right now?

Age of War by Michael J. Sullivan. I’m crazy about Fantasy!

Name an interesting thing about yourself that others might not know.

I didn’t learn to ride a bike until I was about 13. It’s questionable whether or not I can actually ride a bike today.

What is your favorite website or app?

Duolingo. I will learn a second language someday!

Is there a particular project or work product you are most proud of?

I love creating pieces for the Down Syndrome Guild. Being able to give back through my design work to such a fantastic organization always brings me joy.

Describe your ideal Saturday.

Sneaking in some time horseback riding in the morning. Then drinking Bloody Mary’s and having lunch on a patio somewhere.

You’re leaving town for a very, very long time…where would you dine for your last meal and what would you eat?

Le Fou Frog in Kansas City’s River Market. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is even better. I’d start with a French 75 and a bowl of lobster bisque. Then I’d order my entrée just to get to dessert, my favorite chocolate mousse!
